How I Started Making My Own Beauty Products
I have very curly hair. Naturally curly. So it doesn’t behave like normal hair (Type 3A according to NaturallyCurly.com). I have learned to tame it, using its rules, over the years. Different products have made a difference in my life at different times, including John Frieda Frizz-Ease, and most recently, DevaCurl products, which I really love! But the cost really adds up, so I started looking for alternatives and stumbled upon the e-book “Hair Gone Wild” by Diane Kidman. All the 5-star reviews about how much people loved their hair made me take notice, so I decided to check it out for myself. After reading Diane’s method of going “no ‘poo” several times, I was armed and ready, and took the plunge. It’s been since July of 2013, and I couldn’t be happier. I will NOT be going back to the “shampoo & conditioner” lifestyle!
I have no idea how much money I have saved, but between not buying hair-care, or beauty products like moisturizer, face wash, toner, makeup primer, (and much more–I’m really not buying any manufactured products anymore). It’s got to be a lot! Of course I AM buying baking soda, honey, apple cider vinegar, beeswax, etc, but those ingredients are inexpensive by comparison and last quite awhile. It also feels great to know that the products are completely natural, so there’s no question what’s on my skin. I enjoy finding natural ways to take care of oneself, and am happy to share what I have learned.
